CCH Chapter 2--The Derivative Function
In this laboratory notebook you will be investigating the relationship between the graph of a function, and the graph of its derivative. Since we have yet to find a good way of getting the formula of a derivative function, we'll be using approximate derivatives found by using the "Quick Method" discussed in class in which we simply use a very small value for h in the definition of the derivative, rather than taking the limit.

You can now switch to the actual Mathematica practice notebook by
clicking on the button at left. It will take a while to start up! Don't forget to come back
here when you're done by using the Applications menu! (You can also use this
menu just to come back here to reread the instructions.) See you in a few
minutes.

If you happen to be feeling particularly lost, or insecure about the results you obtained in the Mathematica notebook that you just completed, then you may click on the button on the left to go and check the answers you should have gotten. (Note: Only the answers, the Output cells, are given. It's still up to you to determine how these answers were found.)

Welcome back! Hopefully everything went well. You may now go to the Table of Contents for all of the Calculus I
Labs, or simply quit.
