Mathematica should have returned the following description:

?CountryData

Country Data Syntax

So in this function the tag argument will specify the name of the country we are interested in, and the property argument will specifiy what it is we want to know about that country.

Let's probe the workings of this command a little. Go back to Mathematica and issue the following command, returning here when you are done. (We are using the second form of the command above, where we also get to specify the date we are interested in. Don't forget to use the quotes, and note that there is no space between United and States!)

CountryData["UnitedStates", {"Population", 2010}]

Let's go see what you should have gotten...
